The body of 5-year-old girl Alina Islam Ayat was found in Chittagong. But DNA samples from Ayat’s family members will be used to figure out if these parts belong to her or not. The pieces of her body were found in a drain in the ‘Bandartila Akmal Ali Road’ area of the Chittagong city around 3 o’clock today, Wednesday, November 30.
Inspector Manoj Kumar Dey, who is in charge of the case at the Chittagong Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), confirmed the situation. Morjina Akhter, a PBI Metro inspector, said that, two separate leg parts were found. It remains to be seen whether his family can identify them. We are looking for rest of the body. Two legs were retrieved from the place where Abir claimed to have chopped and dumped Ayat’s legs, according to officials investigating the crime.
The legs were preserved and submitted to the morgue for DNA analysis, despite the accused’s confession. DNA samples from the two feet will be compared to of Ayat’s parents, Sohail Rana and Sahida Akhtar Tamanna.
According to Ayat’s grandfather, Manzoor Hossain, it was discovered from the waist down to the feet. These belong to my granddaughter. I’m not sure why he viciously murdered my granddaughter. We have no dispute with murderer Abir. We want him to be hanged.
Police have arrested Abir’s parents and sister after arresting him in connection with the murder of Ayat and dismembering the body into six pieces. The court remanded Abir’s parents for three days for questioning. Besides, Abir is on remand for seven days in the second phase. Accused Abir’s father, van driver Azharul Islam lives on rent at Ayatad’s house. Ma Alo Begum works in a garment factory.
Earlier, on the afternoon of November 15, Sohel Rana’s daughter Ayat, a resident of Bandartila ‘Waaz Munsibari’ in area of EPZ police station of the city, went missing while going to study in the Moktob (Islamic Kindergarten) next to her house. After 10 days of disappearance, Ayat’s family came to know that his neighbor Abir had killed her immediate after kidnaping.
Police say Abir kidnapped Ayat for ransom. He had planned to demand six to seven lakh Taka as ransom. But Abir told in the interrogation that he could not demand the ransom for the kidnapping because the mobile phone was not working. Then when the child tried to scream, he strangled her to death. Then her body was cut into six pieces and floated in the sea.
