An all-female mob tragically took the life of Sirikul Islam, 51, a suspect in a child homicide case. Even after being freed on surety, Sirikul Islam, the primary suspect in the death of a kid named Bayezid in the village of Balukhola, Palashbari upazila, in the Gaibandha district, could not escape the anger of the mob.
The occurrence transpired in the Manoharpur union village of Balukhola on a Saturday evening. Local sources claim that Sirikul Islam, one of the suspects in the murder of young Bayezid, was at Mukul’s hotel in Manoharpur Ghorabanda Chowrasta Bazaar at approximately 7.30 p.m. on the tragic evening in question. An immediate migration of a sizable group of women from the village of Balukhola to Ghorbanda Chowrasta Bazar ensued upon learning of his whereabouts.
Sirikul Islam was accosted by them, whereupon he was brutally beat and subsequently forcibly dragged from the guesthouse. Following this, the police arrived on the scene to quell the disorderly assembly and apprehend Sirikul Islam, who was subsequently transferred to Gaibandha Modern Hospital.
Notably, the child victim, Bayezid, was involved in a tragic incident that was associated with a land-related dispute that occurred earlier of this year. Sirikul Islam was one of the defendants named in this investigation. Upon his release on parole, he made the decision to relocate to Dholbhanga. Sirikul was reportedly attempting to return to his village house from Dholbhanga, where he was discovered in the hotel, after selling his residence there. The relatives of the deceased child and the outraged women of the village quickly detected his presence, which precipitated the violent altercation.
The OC Investigation at Palashbari Police Station reported that the deceased suspect’s remains were recovered and subsequently transported to the morgue, as stated by Diwakar Adhikari.
