In a key breakthrough, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Abdul Karim, a long-time fugitive who had eluded capture for nearly 19 years. Karim, the primary culprit in a rape and kidnapping case filed at Chittagong’s Hathazari Police Station, was apprehended on Wednesday (7 june 2023)in the Chairmanghata region of Hathazari upazila.
Abdul Karim, the arrested guy, is the son of Khairul Bashar of the Dhalay area of Hathazari. The crime, according to RAB officials, occurred on October 26, 2004, when Karim abducted and raped a schoolgirl.
Abdul Jalil, victim’s father, acted as the plaintiff in the case, and an official complaint was filed at Hathajari Police Station. Following the incident, Karim went into hiding, eluding law police for nearly two decades.
Following an extensive investigation, the police developed a charge sheet, designating Karim as the sole accused, which was then submitted in court. The case is presently pending in Chittagong court, awaiting legal action.The RAB apprehended Abdul Karim quickly and handed him over to the Hathazari police station, where he is now being processed legally.
